In most cases, when applying for a scholarship and participating in a contest, a student needs to write an essay. That's where a lot of questions arise. So give it enough time to prepare it by following this step-by-step instruction.

Brainstorm

Any motivation letter for a grant implies the analysis of personal experience or attitude to a particular problem. As always, the most challenging thing is to start, especially when you don’t have a good scholarship essay helper now when you need it. The following questions should help you generate some original ideas:

  •  What are your main achievements and why do you consider them achievements? Do not limit yourself to formally recognized achievements. Perhaps you have some personal victories that are achievements in the context of your life.
  •  Do you have any characteristics, qualities, skills that distinguish you from others? How did you develop them?
  •  Are there any films, books, works of art that have influenced your worldview or experience? Why do you like them?
  •  Is there a period in your life that has been the most difficult for you, and why? How has your worldview changed as a result of the difficulties experienced?
  •  Have you ever experienced the feeling of enlightenment, as if you haven’t noticed any things or phenomena before?
  •  Do you have strong beliefs or commitment to certain principles?
  •  What are you dreaming about? How does this scholarship fit into your plans?

This stage should be given not less than one or two weeks.

Choose A Topic

The topic should correspond to the mission and objectives of the scholarship. It is necessary to study the mission and goals of the organization that provides it. Understanding the mission and goals of financial donors should suggest the choice of the central theme of the motivation letter.

Formulate The Main Idea

The essay should be imbued with one main idea. For example: "Sports activities have provided me with the desire and ability to achieve results." You should be able to formulate the main idea of a motivational letter in one sentence.

Be Specific

In a motivation letter, you should avoid common phrases and cliches, for example: "Education is the key to success." It will be more correct to talk about how education affected your destiny, by the examples of some event from your life, and other people's lives.

If you write about your desire to become a biologist, you can tell about how this desire was born. Specific examples make the essay memorable and unique because each person has different life experience. Look at the sample of the motivation letter.

Present Your Achievements

The win in the competition for awarding the grant is reduced to making a favorable impression on the members of the commission and to convince them that you are the most worthy candidate.

Your achievements, awards, talents, and activities are suitable to emphasize your exclusivity. However, do not list everything in a row. For this, there is a resume and a questionnaire. Only one or two of the most noteworthy achievements should be covered more deeply in your essay.

This will allow you to explain the significance of your achievements, which may not be so obvious in summary.

Be Positive

The motivation letter should not sound pessimistic, belligerent, or critical.

This does not mean that every word should be super-positive, or that one should not write on serious topics. However, it should not concentrate entirely on negative aspects. Show that you are an optimistic and constructive person. For example, when you write about a problem, try to present your vision for its solution.

Use Meaningful Transitions

Firstly, paragraphs of the main body should be linked in meaning to the introduction. Secondly, it is necessary to use transitional phrases and sentences inside paragraphs and especially between paragraphs, so that a single logical thread connected the whole text.

Think Of A Spectacular Conclusion

In conclusion, we should not summarize the main content, since there is no need to remind the reader of what he read two minutes ago. Establish a semantic connection between the conclusion and the introduction, paraphrase the sentences from the introduction, or complete the text with a well-known quotation related in meaning to the content.

Editing Your Text

Take some time to think about the chosen theme of the motivation letter, analyze what was written.

After a week, reread the text. Get rid of clichés and common phrases, make sure of the appropriate use of transitional sentences, change the order of sentences within paragraphs and the order of paragraphs, if necessary. Before sending, be sure to check the text several times for grammatical errors and typos.
