After the hype and anticipation for The Dark Knight Rises, ticket sales have dropped 60% from its opening weekend.
The movie, Christopher Nolan’s concluding part to his much celebrated Batman trilogy, opened at number one on July 22 and held on to its top spot for its second week, despite this drop in ticket sales.
It is understood that this drop, more than was expected and more than its predecessor The Dark Knight’s 53% drop during the same period, is due to the Colorado shooting at a screening of the movie and the opening of the London 2012 Olympics.
