“You think your world is safe, it is an illusion”. So come the portentous words that herald the start of the trailer to what will be one of next year’s biggest movies, Star Trek Into Darkness.
What follows is loads of alien invasion stuff, Chris Pine looking mean and moody as Kirk, a newly long-haired Spok, and Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch as the villain this time around.
JJ Abrams’s sequel will be out to out-gun its forebear which was one of the hits of 2009 and showed everyone that Star Trek needn’t be for sci-fi devotees.
The film co-stars Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, John Cho and Karl Urban.
Star Trek Into Darkness will be out in May 2013.
