Adelaide band The Germein Sisters, are following in the footsteps of bands such as Haim and First Aid Kit, with melodic, cool pop songs that have been attracting the attention of festival promoters worldwide. Returning to the UK for their second year in a row at Isle Of Wight festival, the girls hit London for a short stop over and showcase before their performance at IOW Big Top stage on Saturday afternoon. We dropped by to ask them a few questions.

You're playing at Isle of Wight festival this weekend for the second year, who else will you be watching while you're there?

We look forward to seeing Queen, The Who, The Corrs, Jess Glynne, Lissie, Gabrielle Aplin, Black Violin, The High Kings, Adam Ant, Iggy Pop, The Dolls..... And lots more.

Tell us your essential festival survival kit?

A large bottle of water, comfortable footwear, sunnies, a hat, lots of green tea and healthy food, good nights sleep and ready for fun.

When you're in London, which  shops to you head to and what do you like to buy?  Do you have a favourite London High street Clothes shop?

We love the Camden markets for quirky bits and pieces and wandering down Carnaby Street.

Last year at Isle of Wight your sparkly hot pants caused quite a stir – What will your stage outfits be this year?

Well let's say the sparkly hot pants just may make another appearance.... Maybe in a different colour ?..... Actually we represented Australia at the international Hue Festival in Vietnam a couple of weeks ago and we had a fabulous tailor make us some cool threads.

Are there any other festivals you'd like to play for in the UK?

Absolutely…..Isle of Wight is definitely our favourite, John Giddings the owner has always been very supportive to us and we love the atmosphere at the festival and the Island is so sweet. Maybe next year it would be good to come back and see some more of this lovely country. There's a fellow Australian band called The Pierce Brothers who are playing at Cornbury Festival this year, that looks fun… We've heard The Cotswold's and that part of the country is beautiful, so would be lovely to play there. Another sibling band All Saints are playing this year too, if we were still in town we'd head along.  Others would be V Festival, Boardmasters, Latitude, T in the Park, British Summer Time, Glastonbury, Barn on the Farm, We would love to do a whole summer circuit- so if there are any bookers out there we would love to hear from you.

What's your favourite festival back home in Australia/ Adelaide?

Adelaide Fringe Festival, Blues and Roots Festival, Handpicked Festival.

You're ambassadors for World Vision in Australia what does this entail?

We have always been thankful for the standard of living and opportunities that we have in Australia and know that many people in the world do not have the basics such as access to clean water, health care, safe shelter and adequate food. By supporting the work of WV through their child sponsorship program and 40 hour famine fundraiser we can help the poor communities of the world. Georgia was a Youth Ambassador and spent time in Nepal seeing first hand the work of World Vision and then shared her experiences with students all over Australia. A message of helping out your fellow man comes through in some of our songs without being too obvious.

When your song was selected for the Australian Commissions International Marketing campaign, how did this have an impact on your careers?

It was an honour to have Georgia's 'song 'Take My Hand' selected and put with stunning footage of beautiful South Australia and showed all around the world. The exposure was great and really affirmed Georgia's songwriting skills.

What was it like opening shows for legends such as Sting & Paul Simon and meeting your celebrity fans like Sharon Corr

We got to play on the Coopers Green before the show started which was lots of fun. Huge crowd, and a great vibe..... It was just the best concert..... We have loved their songs since we were born, so it was huge for us to be there.

It was great to meet up with Sharon last year..... She is such a lovely person

And we loved having her beautiful violin playing on two of our songs on our 'Because You Breathe' album. Very special.

What are your favourite things to do in London?

Hop on a double decker bus, take a boat ride on the Thames, catch a show at the West End or in the Shakespeare Theatre, wander the Camden Markets, eat superb vegan food and catch some great live music if we are not playing.

Tell us about your single 100 years….

"100 Years"

Nowadays it's not so unusual to live to be 100. This song is about doing something useful with the life we have, caring for our world, making and creating opportunities, no matter how long or short our lives are.... ' I hope that I do something right..."

Their new single 100 Days is out on digital release from June 10.
