‘Gary Glitter’ announces comeback tour for the Autumn on Twitter

OfficialGlitter states “The official twitter of Gary Glitter. Managed and updated by me. King of rock n’ roll. 2012 comeback tour details coming here soon. Watch this space.”

Glitter, real name Paul Gadd, was arrested in 1999 for possession of 4000 images of child pornography and served four months in prison. To avoid the media frenzy he moved to Vietnam but was convicted there for a sexually assaulting two girls.

Upon his return to the UK he spoke of his desire to put his past behind him and of his intentions to return to the stage and publish a book at some point too.

The recent revelation that a Twitter account believed to belong to Wendi Deng, wife to media tycoon Rupert Murdoch, was a fake has raised scepticism over the authenticity of the accounts on Twitter, leading to many believing that this too is a hoax.

It has not stopped some though venting their emotions over - if it is true - the most surprising of showbiz comebacks. ‘Get Glitter Off Twitter’ has been the microblogging response to the alleged singer’s unveilings of his future plans.
