Tier 2 Visa - How long does it take?

Hello,

Im looking at applying for a Tier 2 Visa. As you now have to apply from in Australia, i was wondering how long this process can take?

I need to know how long I am going to be off work for before my boss will let me apply!

Your company would need to have a licence to sponsor you which would usually take around 6 weeks to obtain.

The position would then need to be advertised in the UK for 28 days.  Your company would then generate a sponsorship certificate which you would need when making your application in Australia.  Processing times are tough to comment on but 3 -4 weeks in Australia should normally be enough.  It just depends on how many applications they are dealing with at the time.
