one week to go

Download a P85 from the HM Revenue and Customs website, complete it and send it with parts two and three of your P45 (which you’ll get from your employer when you leave your job). This should enable you to get back any tax you’ve overpaid. See www.hmrc.gov.uk.

I think you need more reminders on your Checklist for moving home. Organising visas for trip home should be done much earlier. I would say at least 2 months before especially if posting your passport for a visa. Processing and return posting for a single postal visa can take up to 3 weeks. Not everyone is able to go in person to get a visa. Additionally I would add leaving drinks to your list and the email should be sent at least 6 weeks before leaving. I've been to leaving drinks before when there's noone there and the person is all upset and feels unloved. Why? Because everyone has busy lives and had already made plans for that weekend. Spontaneous leaving drinks are great but it's better to give people plenty of notice, especially if you want a present ; ) Cheers Mish Elk
