Forever capitalising on pop culture as a means of getting fit, Gymbox has done it again, this time with its Soulcalibur v: Swordsman workout.

Who needs step classes? This new fighting-fit workout class, inspired by the Soulcalibur video game franchise, is bound to have gym-goers turning their backs on run-of-the-mill group exercise classes.

A 40-minute class replicates the deft moves of video game fighting legends, Mitsurugi, Siegfried and Pyrrha, which involve making shapes that promise bodies the ultimate cardio and muscle workout.

Built up of 16 layered sword repetitions, Soulcalibur v:Swordsman will progressively enhance and improve your speed and accuracy, and ultimately, it will condition the body. Simple yet very effective, many of the moves can also be done at home – so if you’re inclined, carry on the swordsmanship in your loungeroom. As a special introductory deal, turn up to Gymbox Westfield with a copy of Soulcalibur V on either Playstation 3 or Xbox360, and they’ll waive the £99 joining fee if you sign up for a membership.

The class, on each Tuesday at 7pm, costs £10 for non-members.
