When it comes to the hair on our head, the importance of each individual strand to us as humans is undeniable. We style it, we dye it and we use it to reflect our personality in a way that not even our clothing can. For that reason, if you begin to get a receding hair line or you begin to lose your hair in patches, it can be very unpleasant and distressing and have devastating effects on your self-confidence.

There are lots of factors that can cause the loss of hair, such as nutrition, illness, stress, ageing and hormone levels, which can lead to either temporary hair loss, and in some unfortunate cases, the loss of hair permanently. However, we want to help you to see that your hairline does not define you and should not be able to impact your self-confidence. Here are some ways to overcome low self-esteem due to your hair.

Consider A Hair Transplant

While your hair is by no means your defining factor, hair transplants can be beneficial for men and women and have a real impact on improving and replenishing self-confidence. There are a number of different hair transplants on offer, such as FUT, FUE, Choi Implanter Pens and eyebrow and beard transplants too, and with the help of a consultant, you can choose which type of transplant is the best option for you. The cost of hair transplant is very reasonable and the results will be worth the price. It is recommended that you do some research into hair transplants to decide if it will suit you and be an appropriate option for your type of hair loss.

Focus On Your Other Traits

While a hair transplant can provide relief for those who can’t shake the low self-confidence, your hair isn’t your biggest feature or trait! You may be a fantastic sportsman/woman, musician or be excellent at your job. You could have stunning eyes and a smile that brightens a room - focus on what you are good at and what you like about yourself, as well as setting new goals. People will know who you are for being successful rather than your hairline. You could even take up a new sport or hobby, which will keep your body and mind healthy and boost your self-esteem.

Act Confident

Whether you have bald patches, a receding hair line or complete hair loss, that isn’t your personality and people care about the person you are and not your hair. Hold your head up high and be confident when meeting new people, or even being around those you’re already close to. By acting confident, you will start to feel more confident in yourself too.

Wigs And Accessories

If you feel that a wig or a hair accessory would be beneficial for those days when you’re feeling particularly low, then there is no harm in investing in a few. A head band or a hat can provide an alternative style that will cover up any insecurities while providing you with that opportunity to showcase your personality. Alternatively wigs come in all different styles and colours, so you can have a new hairstyle and try out new colours easily! Look through magazines and try on different wigs and accessories to see what suits you the best. If you have had hair loss due to an illness, then this can be a real way of boosting your confidence and expressing yourself with different styles of wigs.

Ignore Negative Comments

If you have had the unfortunate event of being victimised by negative comments due to your hairline or hair loss, then this is likely to have reduced your self-confidence. Although it may be difficult at first, try and ignore them. Those that have nasty comments to make are likely not confident in themselves so choose to put others down and in the end, these comments do not define you either. Remember that if you are targeted by negative comments, you are worth much more than a few harsh words.

Having hair on your head is not what defines you or makes you the person you are. Many features on your body make you beautiful and ultimately, it’s your personality that matters. Being a lovely person is more important than having hair, so be proud of who you are and don’t worry what your hairline is doing. Focus on your work or a new hobby to keep you happy and enjoying life and your self-confidence will be through the roof in no time.
