If you have ever baulked at those mentalists in London’s green spaces being barked at by personal trainers to achieve winner fitness, yet like the idea of exercise al fresco – with a little help – then this might be right up your street.
Before you get too excited, though, the organisers of Rumble In The Park still describe it as the ‘toughest, most-challenging boot camp you will ever attend’.
But no one will be commanding you to ‘get down and do 10’ while you quiver in a pool of sweat. The gym comes to you in the park, with no Rumble class ever the same. Expect to do anything from pulling sleds, to kettlebell work. You may also find yourself hanging from trees, flipping tractor tyres, or slamming sand bags into the ground. And, if you prefer to beat someone up for fitness, the boxing pads are ever present. Stick at it and you’ll see your cardiovascular fitness, strength and muscular endurance improve no end.
Capped at 20 bodies, classes are small and personal, and the trainers are friendly. Classes run in Richmond, Surbiton, Cobham, Thames Ditton and Teddington, and costs £10 per session.
