If you are one of those students hating academic writing and treating it as the most boring thing in their lives, this article is definitely for you. Whether you like it or not, the higher education system is built on academic writing and we would rather you found something appealing in it as we do. Why writing as well as for scholarly purposes can be a fun and enriching activity we will explain in this article below.

Whether you are a college or a university student, essays, papers, case studies are all the things you perform to get that A+. To this end, you may either outsource writing of a custom research paper to a third party specialising in it or try to achieve it with your own efforts. In the latter case, there is a variety of tools and instruments which could help you approach writing as an exciting and motivating activity. And below are only some of them!

Writing Is Not Boring And Here Is Why

Whether you write for university or for your own purposes, it is important to understand that practice makes perfect. Our societies and school systems are built in a way where mistakes are rarely accepted and do not constitute a norm. Therefore, many people who have started something and then got disappointing assessments of this, sooner or later quit. Not to let this happen, love what you write even if it is bad as it tends to get better with more time and effort.

Regardless of the heated discussion on why academic writing should be so academic there is still no clear answer. That is why, if this is not the thing you can change, try to get really creative in this process and here is how:

  • observe all the time: there is no subject in the world apart from astronomy or molecular biology, where you cannot notice what is going on around you in your daily life and how does it relate to your topic. When you look what people do and what they say, you may find an insight for your writing;
  • try to choose topics by yourself: if you have the freedom of choosing the subject to write on, try to choose something meaningful to you. Since when people will read your paper, they are more likely to believe you when you yourself believe in things written;
  • practice, practice, and practice: for those who think that writing is a gift from the birth, this is a top tip. Anyone can learn how to write effectively. It is like training a muscle but of a mental kind;
  • experience things by yourself: after you have researched a lot, you may face the writer's block as it seems everyone has already said everything on the subject. But once you try to experience something, your perspective may change drastically and you will find an insight which can be turned into some idea.

Writing does bring joy and fulfillment when it is done consciously and not in the midst of burning deadlines. Therefore, you should also try to find ways to make it not a stressful last-minute activity, but rather a rewarding and long-term experience which fulfills you. To make this happen, you have to learn the basics of time management and planning. And also, please, forget about procrastination as this thing ruins our lives!

There are multiple ways of organising one’s time, starting from blocking out the time on a Google Calendar to making notes in the daily planners. Another useful advice would be not to spend all your time planning only. The sooner you actually begin doing things, the sooner they will be done. And this is the ultimate goal for any student of any time. Since whenever you are not doing your home assignments or studying, you can actually enjoy life!

In both emotional intelligence and in hard sciences like mathematics, writing can help the brain to develop the logical functions required for successful math and science learning. Writing also helps eliminate “it sounded good in my head” syndrome. It forces ideas to be laid out bare for the thinker to see, where it is much less likely that they will be jumbled up like they are in your head.
