The Museum of Broken Relationships is an exhibition showcasing rejected gifts once given by lovers and now representing something lost and broken, curated by Croatian artists Olinka Vištica and Dražen Grubiši.

(Yes, they used to be in a relationship.)

Teddy bears, axes and underwear have been donated by the lovelorn, the furious, and those who now see the brighter side.

Whatever the motivation for donating personal belongings - be it sheer exhibitionism, therapeutic relief, or simple curiosity - people embraced the idea of exhibiting their love legacy as a sort of a ritual, a solemn ceremony.

Our societies oblige us with our marriages, funerals, and even graduation farewells, but deny us any formal recognition of the demise of a relationship - until now.

The Museum of Broken Relationships will be on display at the Southbank Centre from 28 June, as part of the Festival of Love.
