From a summer launch at London Collections Men with a mass of models, to its Regent Street store unveiling November 26 the Idris Elba and Superdry collection is commanding significant attention from the modern man.

London born and bred, Idris Elba is best known for his leading roles in Mandela and as an African warlord in the powerful ‘Beasts of No Nation’. Not only this, Elba has other talents. He has been a DJ in London since he was 19 under the name DJ Big Driis and has recorded, produced and appeared in music videos with Mumford and Sons, Angie Stone and other well-known artists.

When you take a look at Elba’s carerer, what he stands for and the way he lives his life, it’s quite of obvious why a top brand like Superdry snapped him up.

Created in 2003, Superdry is another British wonder, I know style obsessed guys that simply refuse to wear anything else.

Co-founders James Holder and Julian Dunkerton’s contemporary brand has always had a youthful feel. The Idris Elba range is a development designed to appeal to its growing up (but not maturing) early to mid-20’s male audience, and is the brand’s biggest collection to date with 250 winter wardrobe pieces centred on urban-sophisticated style.

Idris Elba said of the collection - “We’re three British lads (Elba, Holder and Dunkerton) who’ve worked hard to get to where we are. I’m passionate about what I do and always give 100%. If I had the opportunity to have any influence in fashion, this is it. I’m not a designer, but I’m passionate about clothes and I know how men want to look. Functionality and durability were key things for me. It’s a ‘24-hour’ collection; clothing guys can look and feel great in from day to night.”

Elba’s signature urban style reverberates throughout this collection. There are deluxe down-filled outerwear, butter-soft leather jackets, tailored wool town coats, fine cashmere jumpers, monogrammed reversible bombers, mac and trench coats, and redefined vintage denim and a collection of joggers, tees and hoods.
