Call out for 30 London residents to host 30 bespoke theatre performances in their homes on Saturday 17 October.

Theatre Royal Stratford East is calling upon the general public to get involved in an exciting and ambitious project, this autumn. After its huge success in 2013, Home Theatre (UK) is back for the second time to grace the homes of London residents and as such Theatre Royal Stratford East is looking for 30 new homes around London to play host to 30 new bespoke, one person performances. Applications from London residents wishing to take part in the project are being accepted until Friday 21 August.

During the week leading up to the performance the 30 artists will take inspiration for their stories from the host of the home they will be performing at. On Saturday 17 October hosts will be encouraged to invite an audience of friends and family to see the performance, for free. After this, hosts will be asked to provide refreshments, over which thoughts and experiences can be shared about the performance.

Home Theatre (UK), which this year is  being funded by The Gulbenkian Foundation and The Gibbs Charitable Trust, first took place in London during 2013 and is being produced again by Theatre Royal Stratford East in partnership with Festival Internacional de Cenas em Casa.

Kerry Michael, Artistic Director of Theatre Royal Stratford East says: “Since 2013 we have been working on Home Theatre, which is all about opening up theatre to new audiences in innovative ways. I am delighted to confirm that with the aid of funding from The Gulbenkian Foundation and The Gibbs Trust, the latest installation will happen this October and once again we will be bringing 30 theatre makers into 30 homes across the capital and creating bespoke new theatre experiences."

Members of the public wishing to take part in the project can find out how to apply by visiting Theatre Royal Stratford East’s website www.stratfordeast.com/hometheatre or by emailing hometheatreuk@stratfordeast.com to request an application form. The deadline is Friday 21 August.
