The cosiest 'night in' night out is the perfect way to experience cinema.

With the delicious wintery weather of this grey and windswept island (at this time of year) taking its toll on those who long for a bit more daylight, a bit more sun and a little less gloom, then this movie night with a twist is the perfect antidote to the January blues.

The self-styled cosiest ‘night in’ night out, which only kicked off last November,  takes over Shoreditch underground station to screen movies - a cute and atmospheric environment for sure (particularly if you’re watching Creep we’d imagine). Your vantage point is a bed of fatboy bean bags that swamps the floor, each one accommodating one person with loads of space or two if you’re all snuggled up.  With a programme of movies booked up to the 18th of this month, there are movies to cater for all kinds of silver screen fans, too.

There’s indie (The Grand Budapest Hotel, Jan 18), docos (Man On Wire, Jan 18) and Oscar winning thrillers (Argo, Jan 15). This week there is the likes of mega harrowing but  utterly unforgettable drama 12 Years A Slave on Friday Jan 11 – with Frozen screening earlier in the day – the Coen Brothers’ masterful Inside Llewyn Davis (Jan 13)

But our pick of the bunch is this evening’s double header of Drive (7pm) and Her (9.51pm). Nicholas Winding Refn’s 80s-styled Drive, starring Ryan Gosling in a rather dapper scorpion white leather jacket, is a brutally violent yet beautiful thriller about a getaway driver and the late screener, directed by Spike Jonze, stars Joaquin Phoenix as a man in the near future who falls in love with his computer’s operating system (voiced exquisitely and oh-so seductively by Scarlett Johansson).
