The scene How you’ll feel about Be At One depends on how you already feel about All Bar Slug and Piano, as I once heard London’s chain bars called. Think their identikit, semi-posh interiors, loud chart music and after-work crowds are the scourge of the capital’s drinks scene and a massive bore? Don’t go here then.

Want somewhere easy and comfortable to step into where the bartenders know their way around a cocktail menu, but the prices are still low? Then you’ll love it.

The staff are almost disconcertingly friendly at the Monument branch of Be At One and it doesn’t get too packed. The music is insanely loud in here, even at around 6pm on a weeknight, but other than that it’s an inoffensive place to grab a drink.

The real reason to come, however, is its rather generous daily two-for-one cocktail deal. They even have an app that allows you to ‘activate’ your happy hour when it suits you (during the week at least). Can’t argue with that.

The grub Popcorn and crisps, no bar menu.

Behind the bar There’s a fantastically lengthy cocktail menu here with all the classics, including martinis whichever way you want them, deliciously sweet strawberry daiquiris and knock-your-socks off margaritas.

Bill please Cocktails are from £7 a pop but, as above, you rarely have to pay that.

Verdict We’ll never turn up our noses at a cheap cocktail, so this place is A-OK.
