St George's Jolly

Get your Brit on with a spectacular of Morris dancing (above), ales and gins at The Lamb Tavern on St George’s Day, this Tuesday April 23.

The patron saint of England will be celebrated in style at the Leadenhall Market pub (first built in 1309), where an all-day pop-up beer bar will serve Young’s cask ales and Morris dancers will jingle their bells with performances at 11.30am and 1.30pm.

If you can make it through to the evening, Old Tom’s Bar downstairs is hosting a special St George’s Day quiz, where you can test your knowledge of Blighty over a few artisanal Sipsmith gins. Jolly-oh!

Beef it up

Now continue the patriotic theme with a feast of British beef at The Grill On The Market at Smithfield, where British Beef Week (until April 27) is being honoured with a special menu. Choose from a selection of homegrown cuts (take on the 1200g Big Boy Cut of T-Bone at £75 if you’ve got the balls) and pair them with Brit craft brews.

And, if you don’t mind sounding like a tit, visit on St George’s Day and say “I am a steak slayer” to your server and you’ll get a free bottle of Brit beer, ale or cider with your meal. blackhouse.uk.com

Get Medieval

Finally, travel back to ye olden days at Northbank by Millennium Bridge, which has just launched ‘Mead Mondays’. A mead cocktail – blending the strong honey-based booze brewed by monks in the Middle Ages – and a small plate (think crab linguine, hog’s pudding) is just £10. Er, yum?
