It’s not often people stop and take photos of me on the streets of London (hard to believe, I know).

However, when I’m sat in a classic Mini Cooper with The Beatles pumping out of its open-top roof on a sunny winter’s day, it seems my face will appear on a number of people’s Facebook pages over the next few days.

It is a unique sight, and awesome to be a part of. Having never been in an old Mini Cooper before, let alone bombing around the streets of London in one, it’s a great way to see the capital city.

Riding alongside boisterous taxis and mammoth double-decker buses, we wind our way through the traffic and listen to the confident driver’s fascinating facts (for example, Waterloo Bridge is also known as the Ladies’ Bridge as it was re-built by women in WWII – they used self-cleaning bricks. How resourceful).

We’re also taken to hidden-away spots such as the location of the one door outside of an official government building which accesses London’s underground system, which, among other places, leads to Buckingham Palace. We’ll see you on your next mission, Bond.

Picking you up from any central spot in London, the tours last from 30 minutes right up to a full-day’s rental. You can pick from a number of tours including Royal London, The Italian Job, The Great Escape and more. Or you can just go bespoke – we saw Big Ben, Nelson’s Column, Pall Mall, Buckingham Palace, Saville Row, The London Eye, The House of the Guards and many other of London’s iconic and awe inspiring buildings. Infinitely cooler than an open-top bus and as quintessentially British as you can get, we give Small Car, Big City a massive thumbs ups.

From £54 per Mini for a 30-minute tour (three seats and a driver).
