The Faltering Fullback – Finsbury Park

This pub is something of a sporting institution locally. The Faltering Fullback will be screening every minute of every test match on its big screen in its thankfully well-sheltered and cool sports room. The FF also sports one of the most amazing beer gardens in London, set across dozens of levels, it feels like a tree house and is a great place to grab some rays in between innings.

The Famous Three Kings – Kensington

One of the largest sports bars in London, F3K, as it’s colloquially known, boasts 13 plasma screens, three projector screens and two 3D TV’s. You won’t need to bob your head up to catch a peek at the action with a screen visible from virtually every corner of this legendary sports pub. Normally they show everything from ice hockey to handball, but the Ashes will dominate this summer, and rightfully so.

Freemasons Arms

The Victorian-built Freemasons Arms pub in Covent Garden is a lasting tribute to the founders of the Football Association 150 years ago. But it’s cricket season, and everybody at this historic pub knows it. The bar has six high-definition plasma TV screens, and great pub food. You can also grab a pint of any of their authentic Kentish cask ales or try one of their many international lagers. Freemasons Arms is the Ashes spot for anyone looking for a great meal and a friendly environment.

Zoo Bar Leicester Square

If you’re looking for more of a party scene to mix it up during Ashes action, try the cracking atmosphere of Leicester Square’s Zoo Bar. The soft, warm lights and avant-garde decor suggest it might be a mellower—even funky—place to catch some innings, but once the match heats up, so will Zoo Bar. Before you know it you’ll find yourself on the dance floor celebrating a win like an un-caged animal.

The Alexandra

With four different bars in one, there’s something for every pub-going Londoner at the Alex, a Wimbledon local. The more luxurious roof terrace is a great summer oasis, complete with an open fire, sun canopy and flat screen TV. Green Bar and Lounge Bar have a great pub and dining atmosphere, respectively, but the Sports Bar is where you want to be for game time. With a roll down projector screen and HD plasmas, the Alex is known for its convivial spirit and welcoming crowd.

Carlsberg Sports Bar

Sleek, sophisticated and lauded for its exclusivity and elegance, Carlsberg Sports Bar is the Ashes destination for London’s stylish. One of few sports bars that’s only steps from the slots, Carlsberg is the newest addition to the glamorous Casino at the Empire, located in the heart of London. With an open seating layout, soft wood panelling, and a green glow coating the walls, this is the place for the trendy Ashes fans.

Sports Bar & Grill

As the name suggests, Sports Bar & Grill offers a dining and screening experience unlike any other in the city. With four locations across the city, there’s bound to be one near you. Their open floor plan and full HD LED screens lining the walls make it almost impossible to miss a minute of the action, even while you’re chowing down on their signature (but affordable) dishes or drinking from their wide range of wines, beers and spirits. And if you missed an inning or two, you can catch the highlights during breaky until 11:30 daily.

Jetlag Bar

Offering top notch beers from Down Under as well as local brews, Jetlag Bar might be able to bring some harmony between the Aussies and the English. Set over two levels, dimly lit and peppered with sofas, this sports bar caters to all cricket fans. It has four HD projector screens and lounges that can be reserved for when you and your mates want a comfortable, but still exciting Ashes experience.

Henry J Beans Chelsea

If you want the traditional outdoor, sporty feel, and if the weather gods permit, make sure to land yourself at Henry J Beans’ beer garden, one of London’s largest. Although it’s American themed—boasting fantastic burgers, steaks and hot dogs and an eclectic mix of American classics on the jukebox—the Ashes will rule the garden this summer at Henry J Beans.

The Fentiman Arms

A nice change of pace and scenery, The Fentiman Arms is a great venue for the more relaxed Ashes enthusiasts. A short walk from the Oval, this warm, homely pub is known for its smiling faces and great summertime BBQ. It’s rustic and cosy, and often more of a winter bar. But if you’re looking to unwind and just catch some innings this summer, Fentiman Arms is the pub for you.
