Pop Brixton provides the city with a space full of the best and most exciting independent traders from South London, and now it’s set to bring the capital together over what promises to be a brilliant summer of sport.

Launched in time for the first game of EURO 2016, Pop Fields will be the go-to destination for watching Wimbledon, Test cricket, rugby internationals, Tour de France, The Open and the Rio Olympics and will run until the end of September.

Pop Fields launched with the aim of bringing sports and activity to the local community, and uniting Londoners by providing a space for collective appreciation of what promises to be a summer of great sporting celebrations. Local schools and clubs will be invited to use the space for free to host tournaments, special events and fitness activities.

An extension of the current Pop Brixton site, Pop Fields has a capacity of 800 people, with seated space provided during the EURO 2016 match screenings. The space includes an artificial playing surface suitable for 4-a-side football, mini-tennis, basketball, touch rugby and any number of other sports; a large 3x5m screen will show live sports and additional film content throughout the summer and two bars and street food kiosks will provide refreshments. The site will be open from 8am to 9.30pm Monday to Sunday, with extended opening hours for special match screenings (and in case things go to extra time or penalties!).

Food and drink will be provided by Pop Brixton’s community of restaurants, street food traders and bars, who will be taking it in turns to serve up summer specials and halftime oranges for the players and supporters on Pop Fields. They will be joined by the local Brixton Brewery, who will be setting up a new bar on Pop Fields for the duration of the summer.
