Record numbers descended on Earl's Court for the TNT Travel Show 2012 this weekend.

The official attendance has not yet been ratified, but is expected to be around 15,000 for the one day travel extravaganza.

Many of the shows exhibitors claimed to have had record shows, with multiple operators doubling bookings from previous years.

Attendees at the show also got the opportunity to enter a variety of games and competitions, with the TNT budgie smuggler competition drawing in a big crowd.

The show's comprehensive seminar schedule also drew in the punters, with the adventurer and broadcaster Simon Reeves thrilling his audience with tales of his travels through Mogadishu and encountering cave-dwelling sharks.

Travel firm Contiki said: "The Contiki Fairy Games have been hugely popular and we've been flat out with booking since the start of the show."

A breadth of travel exhibitors at the show all found themselves inundated with demand.

From camping firms like Wicked Campers servicing a "constant stream of people," to flight sellers, like Flight Centre, who reported having queues, "ten deep since the doors opened," exhibitors found universal success.

Sail Croatia, a company which offers a variety of island hopping experiences around the Adriatic, said: "It's been constant since 9:30 this morning with the majority of the people coming to the stand booking trips with us.

"People are coming with diaries open and ready, we're really finding Croatia is on people's Europe to-do list."

Another exhibitor, Plus Hostels, said: "We've been really busy and have had a great mix of people coming to our stand, young and older.

"We're situated in a really good spot and definitely think there's been heaps more interest than last year, overall it's been great."

Kevin Ellis, CEO of TNT, said: "It was great to see so many people attend the show and even more satisfying to see that the audience has grown in size but also diversified too, with many Brits attending the show now as well.

"It is great to have so many operators doing record business.

"When there is so much doom and gloom around it is nice to see some good and happy news for a change," he added.

He went on to say that the company was already gearing up for their Sun and Show travel show, scheduled for October.
