It has been a nasty year for shark attacks in Australia, two fatalities recorded, 29 attacks and 18 injuries so far.

In New South Wales there have been 13 attacks recorded, seven injuries, and one fatality this year, despite estimated shark numbers along the coast of NSW being at record lows.

The sharks' migratory movements and true population numbers are also a mystery, but understanding them could be the key.
