We feel for the people at Speedo who designed the Aussie swimming costumes to be worn at this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow - the kit has been mauled by those in the fashion trade.

Not only have the costumes been called 'confusing', but people have also pointed out that the design draws attention to the crotch of the wearer.

Speaking to The Scotsman, Brisbane stylist Di Cant revealed her issue with the design. "My main issue is with the green and black suits and the emphasis on the crotch,” she said. "Something is not quite flattering."

Director of Australian men’s tailoring firm Wil Valor, Mark Ferguson, sniffed: “It looks like they have tried too hard. They have tried to be ‘out there’ and different, and it has not paid off."

However, despite the unkind comments about the costumes, the Aussie swimmers who modelled the swimwear at the launch have said they are "really happy." Good for them.
