Total legend Paul McCartney surprised music fans and shoppers yesterday when he played an impromptu gig in Covent Garden at lunchtime.
The 71-year-old former Beatle played a number of songs from his new album New from the back of a truck in Covent Garden yesterday afternoon to a crowd of 2000 delighted music fans.
“I’m getting ready to pop up in Covent Garden,” McCartney tweeted yesterday lunchtime before taking to the stage for a 20-minute set.
He played a number of tracks from his latest album in a short set that followed a similar show in New York’s Times Square last week.
“This is a change from the ‘60s because we would have just been coming in from the clubs right now,” he joked from the stage., before concluding at the end of the show that everyone needed to get back to work.
Paul McCartney’s latest album New is out now thorough Virgin Records.
