Synchronised swimming Olympic gold for duets was taken by world champions Russia today but if by any remote chance you missed it, here are some pictures from the London 2012 competition.

Always the most camp, surreal of Olympic sports, today’s synchronised swimming final was an impressive but odd mash-up of waterproof make-up and elegant limbs.

Gold medal winners Russia claimed the title for duets with a slightly terrifying routine inspired by horror movies and macabre fairytales.

Silver was taken by Spain with a tango-inspired routine while China took bronze behind with their dragon-esque synchronised swim.

Without further ado, here are some synchronised swimming pictures for you to puzzle over.
