Australian dance music artist DJ Ajax has been killed in a car accident in Melbourne according to reports.

The eletroclash mash-up DJ was known as a founder of Bang Gang crew and had set up his own record label and management agency.

Ajax found fame in the late noughties as part of Bang Gang.

Mixmag reports that Ajax, real name Adrian Thomas, was "known for a love of quick mixing and explosive tunes," and "picked up a number of DJ awards early on in his career".

He had been voted one of Australia's top five DJ every year since 2005.

He died after being struck by a car in Melbourne on 28 February.
