Aussie songwriter Daniel Merriweather slams Celine Dion for covering one of his songs and not crediting him.

Canadian Dion, who sang the famous song for Titanic movie, My Heart Will Go On, covered Merriweather’s 2009 track Water and a Flame as the lead single and title track on her new album of the same name.

She neglected though to mention Merriweather at all,  even when on she was on teh US talk show Katie in April.

“It is astounding that @CelineDionPT tries to pass off lyrics that I wrote as her own,” he tweeted.

He later went on to write on his Facebook page of  Dion’s failing to “give credit where credit is due”.

If I had written the song for her, it wouldn’t bother me so much, but Water and a Flame is a very personal song that I wrote right after a break-up I was going through and is one of my personal favourite songs on my album Love & War,” he wrote.

“This song has every ounce of my heartache and pain in it and she pretends as if she wrote it herself."
