Since the airing of the third season of Sherlock earlier this year (two years after the second), Sherlock fans have been anxiously waiting on announcements for Season 4.

Unfortunately for fans, Martin Freeman has revealed that it will be some time before we'll see himself and Benedict Cumberbatch back on the small screen as Sherlock and Watson, and even then it may only be for a one-off final episode.

Freeman, who currently stars as insurance salesman Lester Nygaard in Fargo (which aired over the Easter weekend) said that the actors and writers are struggling to find time to film the next series, but they have a 'mouth-watering idea' for a one off special.

"The next series has not even been written yet,"  he told Alan Carr on Chatty Man, where he is set to appear on Friday alongside Lindsay Lohan.

Fingers and toes crossed the wait won’t be too long.
