Aussie actor Hugh Jackman has been named Australia's most powerful celeb in a new poll from US business magazine Forbes.

According to the list published on Wednesday by Forbes.com, Jackman made an estimated $55 million between June 2012 and June 2013.

Placed at No. 11, the Wolverine actor just missed out on the top 10.

Although the actor is best known for his role as Wolverine in the X-men franchise, this year has seen the 44-year-old win his first Golden Globe and earn his first Oscar nomination for his role as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables.

The results were measured by comparing 46 different attributes in using an 'E-Score Celebrity metric', taking in factors like earning power and social media influence.

Chat show host Oprah Winfrey topped the list after making an estimated $77 million between June 2012 and June 2013. Despite not being the highest earner on the list, Forbes.com also takes into account a celebrity’s presence on social networking sites and their number of press mentions.

Ex-Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr was the only other Australian on the list, last placed at 100.
