Hollywood legend Hugh Jackman decided to spend his 45th birthday in a way few others would – by throwing a star-studded party attended by 4500 guests at which he tap danced, sang and shared memories of his life and career.

Jackman threw the One Night Only party at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Saturday which was attended by 4500 of his nearest and dearest, which raised £1.1million for charity.

During the show he danced along to Singin’ In The Rain as well as other musicals, screened film clips as well as images of his much loved homeland and shared stories from his career in the movies, including his signature role as Wolverine from the X-Men franchise.

During the evening he auctioned a number of items including a pair of Wolverine claws and a couple of shirts he had worn during the evening.

“This is probably the most narcissistic way to spend your birthday,” the Sydneysider said afterwards of the party, which raised money for the Motion Picture and Television Fund.
