Ben Affleck’s Argo scooped the Best Film award at last night’s Oscars in Los Angeles.
Affleck’s Iran hostage drama Argo picked up the Best Film Award, with Daniel Day Lewis entering the record books as he won the Best Actor Oscar for a third time for his role in Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln and Jennifer Lawrence scoring Best Actress gong for Silver Linings Playbook.
Anne Hathaway continued her run of awards-season form and won Best Supporting Actress for Les Miserables, and Christoph Waltz won Best Supporting Actor for Django Unchained, which also won its writer-director Quentin Tarantino a Best Original Screenplay award, too.
Ang Lee won the Best Director Oscar for Life of Pi, adapted from Yann Martel's best selling novel which many had previously declared unfilmable.
