The multi Oscar-winning filmmaking Coen Brothers have released a new trailer for their latest, the folk music-inspired Inside Llewyn Davies.
The film is based on the memoir of folk musician Dave Van Ronk’s posthumously published memoir The Mayor of MacDougal Street.
It centres around the life of Llewyn Davies (played by Oscar Issac), who is an integral part of the 1960s coffeehouse scene in New York which itself was key in inspiring the burgeoning folk music scene of the same decade.
Or, as John Goodman’s character puts it at one point when talking to Davies in a car, “What sort of music do you play?”
“I play folk songs,” Davies replies.
“Oh, says the big man, I thought you were a musician.”
The star-studded cast includes Carey Mulligan, about to hit the big screen in Baz Luhrman’s The Great Gatsby, Garrett Hedlund (Tron Legacy) and Justin Timberlake, not to mention former Roseanne star and regular Coen collaborator Goodman.
The film is due for release over here this winter courtesy of StudioCanal.
