On what would have been the late, great Nelson Mandela's 96th birthday, internet giant Google has paid tribute to the former South African president and anti-apartheid revolutionary with a special Google Doodle.
Starting with an illustration of the former leader, you can click through a number of his most well-known quotes, coupled with illustrations depicting stages of his 'Long Walk to Freedom'.
It shows the village where Mandela grew up and follows his journey to his election as the first black president in South Africa in 1994, including the 27 years he spent in prison - it was those years from which emerged the great mediator, philosopher and president-in-waiting.
Google’s illustration of Mandela’s imprisonment shows him reading, accompanied by the quote: “Education is the most powerful weapon which we can use to change the world”.
Happy Mandela Day to all our Saffa readers. Big love, TNT x
