Doing everything right as he chases a first Australian Open title, Andy Murray has breezed past Giles Simon 6-3, 6-1, 6-3 in the fourth round to set up a quarter final against the Frenchman’s compatriot Jeremy Chardy.
Murray was in slick form, dominating from the outset and taking full advantage of Simon’s heavy legs after an epic five-set encounter with Gael Monfils.
The Scot is yet to drop a set in the tournament so far.
He will have enjoyed the five hours and three minutes it took fierce rival and number Novak Djokovic to reach the same stage in a monster clash with Stanilas Wawrinka. The Serb has another tough task in the quarters against Czech Tomas Berdych.
Murray will play the winner of the quarter between Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, yet another Frenchman, and Roger Federer or Canadian Milos Raonic.
