Troubled Aussie tennis player Bernard Tomic has reportedly had another run-in with the law, after police were called to a Gold Coast apartment to check out an early morning stoush involving a hot tub.
The Daily Telegraph reports officers went to the Moroccan Apartments at 5.30am yesterday (Australian time) following a fight between Tomic and a male friend.
A police source is quoted to say Tomic made sure police knew “who he was” and suggested they had it in for him.
Tomic, who’s world ranking has slipped from 28 to 49 of late, will soon face Southport Magistrates Court on driving and honing charges involving his orange BMW M3 V8.
He was given a AU$300 ticket in January – on Australia Day – for restrictions in place for drivers under 25 years to not drive powerful cars. He was also accused of not stopping for police. He has pleaded not guilty.
The 20-year-old has not been charged for the incident in the Gold Coast apartment..
His lawyer Chris Nyst is quoted in the Telegraph: "So far as I am aware, there's no suggestion Mr Tomic has committed any offence of any kind. If there is, he certainly hasn't been charged or even questioned about it. So I'm really not sure what all the ruckus is about.
"Obviously the police have seen some use in splashing these allegations in the media, which is pretty unfortunate, particularly given Mr Tomic has to conduct a trial against police in court next week."
