With a ball to spare Australia claimed a 2-1 Twenty20 series win over South Africa, Cameron White starring with 41 not out.

White rescued the Aussies who were 4-62 after 8.1 overs in pursuit of the Proteas' meagre 6-145.

White's 41 came from 31 balls and was definitely match-winning with his calm finishing negotiating the 10 runs needed from the last two overs.

South Africa took the first match of the series in Adelaide by seven wickets but Australia did the same in the second by the same amount, so it seemed fitting that the decider was a nail-biter.

''It got a bit twitchy there didn't it?'' White said.  ''I think it was probably set up by the bowlers again.

''Chasing 140 on that wicket you'd be pretty comfortable most times but I'm just glad we got over the line at the end.''

James Faulkner impressed with the ball for the Aussies taking 3-28 and White credits the bowlers, who dominated the series, for the win.

'I thought we bowled really well at the back end of our bowling innings,'' White said.

''The guys used the conditions well, bowled into the wicket a lot and restricted them after a good start.

''I thought the wicket was pretty good throughout our batting innings.''
