Britain’s Laura Robson stunned the crowd in Melbourune after she overcame former Wimbledon champ Petra Kvitova to reach the last 32 in the Australian Open.
British number two Robson came back from one set down to win against the eight seed opponent in three sets, clinching the third 11-9 in a climactic showdown of truly epic proportions.
It was a rollercoaster match, with a massive 92 unforced errors between the two, and a whopping 30 aces in total, as the pendulum swung back and forth.
“I knew it was going to be a really tough match,” Robson said after her win.
“I was just trying to return her serves and it was very hard. But I knew once I got my returns firing a bit and I got a but more confidence in my serve, I would get myself into the match.”
Robson is now through to the third round of 2013’s first Slam, where she will face Sloane Stephens.
