It was goals, goals, goals as the Premier League returned this weekend, especially for Southampton fans. Here's how your team went.

SATURDAY

Manchester City 4-1 Tottenham: Sergio Aguero banged home all four - including two penalties and a miss from the spot - to keep Chelsea within reach. Spur equalised early through Christian Eriksen but the defending champions ran away with it.

Arsenal 2-2 Hull: The Gunners have just one win in seven and needed a Danny Welbeck goal in injury time to snatch the victory from Hull.

Burnley 1-3 West Ham: Diafra Sakho has six from six games after scoring in a comfortable win for the Hammers over winless Burnley at Turf Moor.

Crystal Palace 1-2 Chelsea: Cesc Fabregas is off the mark for Chelsea in the Premier League after getting the winner as the Blues stretched to a five-point lead at the top. Fraizer Campbell scored late to flatter the hosts.

Everton 3-0 Aston Villa: Ross Barkley returned for the Toffees in style as Phil Jagielka, Romelu Lukaku and Seamus Coleman all got on the board against Villa.

Newcastle 1-0 Leicester: Gabriel Obertan secured the three points for Alan Pardew's side in an uninspiring match.

Southampton 8-0 Sunderland: Not a misprint. Eight. Santiago Vergini scored a cracking own goal and Liam Bridcutt turned one into his own net. Graziano Pelle (2), Jack Cork, Dusan Tadic, Victor Wanyama and Sadio Mane went with the more conventional method. It's Sunderland's worst loss in 32 years and Gus Poyet's greatest embarrassment of his career.

SUNDAY

QPR 2-3 Liverpool: If watching a replay fast forward to the last 10 minutes, a feverish period of four goals that saw Liverpool snatch a win they didn't deserve. Unlucky Steven Caulker claimed the winner with an own goal.

Stoke 2-1 Swansea: Gary Monk is fuming after Victor Moses was given a penalty that proved the winner in a comeback result for the Potters.
