Allrounder Shane Watson has been talking up Australia's chances at the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup in Bangladesh, believing they've never been better placed to win it.

Watson has been part of all four World T20s so far and it is the only major global title that Australia has never won.

They came close in 2010 when they lost to England in the final.

"More than anything we've got the most balanced side that I've ever been involved with and a balanced squad," Watson said ahead of the second Twenty20 against South Africa in Durban.

"We really do have firepower consistently all the way down our batting order till No. 10 even, and bowling-wise we've got options from high-quality opening bowlers to high-quality death bowlers, high-quality spinners."

Australia's clash with South Africa on Sunday in Port Elizabeth was washed out, and wet weather is set to impact the rest of the three-match series.

Their T20 World Cup campaign starts on March 23 against Pakistan.
