19-year-old Olympics star Tom Daley is set to head out on the road as a backpacker for a new travel show.

The bronze medal winning Brit from Plymouth is to star in a new ITV2 holiday series traveling across the globe to New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Thailand and Morocco. His travelling companion will be real-life best mate Sophie Lee.

The show will reportedly be named 'Tom Daley Takes On The World.' However, the star tweeted about the show using the hashtag #TomsWorldTrip.

"I can't wait to get away on my trip," Daley said in a press statement.

"Diving and training are my first love, but I am looking forward to a break from the norm and discovering more about places I've never had the chance to explore before. And to do it all with my best friend will be amazing."

ITV's Angela Jain said: "Tom's career as a diver has captivated the nation.

"We hope this show will give people the chance to see the teenager behind the trunks as he enjoys his global backpacking adventure."

Daley recently came sixth at the World Diving Championships in Barcelona, suffering from an upper-arm injury.

"I am a long way off my best. It's time I had a little bit of luck whereas this year has been one thing after another," he told The Guardian.

"It's frustrating to see the scores knowing how I was training at the beginning of the week before I tore my triceps. That could have been a whole different story. That's sport."
