MPs slum it on EasyJet for Parlimanetary travel

Following a cunning publicity and business move offering free flights to MPs returning to London during last year's riots, the airline has been added to a 'preferred airline' list. 80 MP's took easyJet up on its offer for free travel during last year's emergency recall to parliament.

The money-saving move is said to make it cheaper to fly in seven out of ten flights. MP's will also be offered speedier boarding and fast tracking through security.

“We know that many MPs, Peers and Government ministers already fly with easyJet. This deal will make it easier and more cost effective than ever before. We are sure they will vote with their feet and travel with easyJet across Europe.” said Carolyn McCall, easyJet's chief executive.

The move comes as part of the airline's strategy to increase business customers and catering for corporate customers.

"Taxpayer-funded trips abroad at a time of savings at home go down poorly with voters, so cutting a deal with easyJet for cheaper flights is good news for all." said Tax-Payer's Alliance chief executive Matthew Sinclair.

The 1,500 members of Parliament and members of the House of Lords take thousands of flights a year, according to The Daily Telegraph.
