TV presenter Justin Lee Collins has admitted to slapping his girlfriend to calm her down during emotional episodes.
Lee Collins is currently in court defending himself against charges of harassment of his ex-girlfriend Anna Lark. The couple were together for nine months and have had to lay bare the details of their short relationship during the court case.
The Friday Night Project television presenter recounted a night at a hotel when he claimed Lark began self-harming, threatening to commit suicide and cutting at her wrists. He told the court that he has slapped her to calm her down.
"She had a screaming fit...She would have episodes and I would try to calm her down..." he told St Albans Crown Court.
Lark has accused Lee Collins of regularly using abusive demeaning language, making her write a diary of her previous sexual history, pushing her in front of a cab on a night out and hitting her cat.
