The family of a dead Brazilian boy were stunned when the two-year-old sat up in his coffin and asked for water, before laying back down again lifeless.
The restless dead are apparently very thirsty, not for blood, but for water. After being declared dead on Friday at Abelardo Santos hospital in Belem, Northern Brazil, Kevin Santos’ family were given his body in a plastic bag to take home according to Brazil’s ORM website.
At 3 pm, an hour before his funeral he sat up in his coffin and asked for water.
Thinking a miracle had taken place, the mourners took his body back to the hospital but doctors confirmed he was dead.
His family delayed the funeral, hoping for a second rise from the boy before burying him at 5p.m. Mr. Santos, the boy’s father, has complained to the police, alleging medical malpractice.
