A rider was booted out of a naked cycling event and given a rollocking by police after he developed a stonking boner at the start-line.

The man was ordered to put his jeans back on and pack his helmet away after he gave spectators an unwanted eyeful at the Canterbury leg of the World Naked Bike Race.

One witness, quoted in the Mirror, said: "Everyone was taking their clothes off to get ready for the ride. I heard gasps and I turned round - it was a horrible sight. It's fair to say he was over-excited and got aroused. It looked like he was enjoying the event a bit too much.

"One of the organisers went over to him and told him to put his trousers on while speaking on a walkie-talkie to police. The man looked sheepish when he was spoken to by the police."

Organiser Barry Freeman later said on Facebook: "We do not accept this behaviour and he was dealt with and removed before the ride started."

World Naked Bike Race events take place in towns and cities around the world. Participants are invited to cycle "as bare as you dare" in order to highlight the dangers cyclists face from cars, and to promote environmental issues such as over-dependence on fossil fuels. Nudity is allowed but cyclists must still stick to strict rules - and stiffies are definitely frowned upon.

Organisers of last year's Canterbury race received complaints about one man who turned up naked without a bicycle.
