When all else fails - be patriotic. Or at least that is what this middle schooler did when his cymbal broke in the middle of The Star Spangled Banner.

Filmed at Eisenhower Junior High in Darien, Illinois, a middle schooler gets into a very awkward situation and handles it like a champ.

Out of all of the times for an instrument to break, during the national anthem is probably one of the worst.

At first he doesn’t know how to handle it. We see the fear flash in his eyes when he realizes he can’t run away.

So instead, he takes it like a man and salutes the American flag like a true American.

And thus, this boy turns his disaster into glorious triumph, albeit being very awkward while doing it.

Someone give him the Medal of Honor.
