Republican VP nominee Paul Ryan went to a soup kitchen to stage a photo op, without seeking permission to do so. In a spectacularly poor show, he then completely failed to actually help any homeless people.

Brian J. Antal, president of the Ohio charity that runs the soup kitchen, said Ryan ‘did nothing,’ reports The Washington Post.

Apparently the soup kitchen was empty by the time Ryan and his family arrived, and volunteers had already scrubbed all the dishes.

But Ryan, his wife, and their three children still put on aprons and pretended to wash up while photographers took photos.

Antal said Ryan "did not have permission" to stage the photo op, and simply "ramrodded their way" in with the help of a volunteer.

"The photo-op they did wasn't even accurate” he added."He did nothing. He just came in here to get his picture taken at the dining hall."
