Several embassies in Athens have been targeted with letter bombs throughout the day, the Guardian reports.

Explosions at the Swiss and Russian embassies hit the city this morning, while the bomb squad later managed to safely detonate devices sent to the Greek parliament building as well as the Bulgarian, Chilean and German consulates.

The attacks followed on from Monday’s four terror attempts with one parcel bomb addressed to French President Nicolas Sarkozy, and another three bombs destined for the Belgian, Dutch and Mexican embassies in Athens.

No one was injured in today’s attempts but a worker at a delivery office was taken to hospital with burns in yesterday's attack.

The police suspect all bombs were delivered by courier, and it's believed that home-grown terror groups, and not al-Qaida, are behind the terrorist attempts.

Two Greek men have been arrested for yesterday’s attacks.
