Foreign women have been advised not to wear skirts in India.

According to the Tourism Minster, foreign women should not wear skirts or walk home alone at night. The advice is being given to tourists entering the country in the form of a welcome pack.

Visitors are being told that views on clothing in India differ to the views of people from the West.

The dress code isn’t being enforced on women, but the advice is being made in an attempt to keep women safe.

The comments come after reports of sexual assault and rape on foreign and local women.

Would you consider going to India?
