Andy Murray has won through to the Australian Open semi finals for the fourth year in a row after another straight sets victory, this time over Frenchman Jeremy Chardy.

Murray obliterated his opponent 6-4, 6-1, 6-2 to claim his place in the first slam semi of the year.

“Today was the best I’ve played,” he said in his post-match interview.

“I’d struggled in my last few rounds, and my last opponent was injured."

Murray’s quarter final opposition Gilles Simon was hampered by exhaustion after a five hour match in the previous round.

“But today I had to be sharp from the start,” the Scot added.

Murray is set to meet either Roger Federer or Joe-Wilfred Tsonga, who play their quarter final match this evening.
