Wigan Warriors are delighted to announce that one of the UK’s largest national charities, Marie Curie, will be official charity partner for their ‘London Calling’ fixture against Catalans Dragons on Saturday 5th September at The Den.

The Wigan Club have taken one of their Super League Super 8s fixtures on the road to London as part of their long term expansion plans in the Capital.

Marie Curie will be present on the day with volunteers looking to raise funds to further support their work. Marie Curie provides vital care and support to people living with a terminal illness and their families.

Warriors London Business Development Director, Gerald Kelly is delighted with Marie Curie’s support of the Warriors fixture in London.

“We are delighted to be working with Marie Curie as part of our London expansion. Marie Curie are a well-respected national charity that do fantastic work in caring for people living with a terminal illness.

“They have shown great enthusiasm for partnering with us for the fixture at The Den and we will be working hard in the build up to the game to offer their supporters, volunteers and staff the opportunity to attend the game and witness the excitement of a Wigan Warriors Super League fixture.”

Lucy Knight, Head of Regional Fundraising for the South at Marie Curie added:

“We are absolutely thrilled to be working with Wigan Warriors, one of the biggest clubs in the Rugby League and I’m sure that the match will be incredibly exciting! We hope that lots of Marie Curie supporters will join us on the day.

“Wigan Warriors bringing a Super League fixture to London is a ground breaking concept. Money raised on the day will really help us to provide care and support to people living with any terminal illness, and their families. We offer expert care, guidance and support to help them get the most from the time they have left.”

For any Wigan Warriors fans wanting to get involved and show their support for Marie Curie, now is a great time with ‘Walk to Remember’ events taking place across the country this August and September.  To find out more and to register CLICK HERE
